Mrs Violet O'Callaghan arrived to take over the school from Miss Bessie Smith in 1934. She was to stay at the school for over 25 years, living in The Schoolhouse, Oakley Hill.
In 1940 she married William Barwell of Dean and was therefore known to pupils as Mrs Barwell.
