Mr and Mrs Fred Squirrell, Upper Dean

The Fred Squirrells lived in the last house in Wellingborough Row, where they both worked as boot and shoe repairers, with a small workshop attached to the house.

Here they are proudly celebrating 60 years of marriage.

I had it whispered to me that Fred was a highly-skilled poacher! His wife was well skilled in making medecines from local plants.
