In this photo, probably taken in 1930s, Mrs Cockings poses self-consciously in front of her cottage. During the second world war the cottage was rented out to tenants and caught fire. Don Larkins, the village milkman, told me he remembers fetching water in an attempt to put out the flames, but the cottage was totally destroyed.
