Thomas DEIGHTON was born abt. 1768 and died abt. 30th January 1839 in Melchbourne. In 1789 he married Jane WILLIS in Melchbourne (born abt. 1761, died abt. 25th January 1825 in Melchbourne). They had several children, some of whom were baptised under the name DEATON or DENTON.
The eldest child seems to have been John DEIGHTON, born bef. 31st May 1801 in Melchbourne, and died abt. 5th November 1874 in Melchbourne. In the 1861 census he was living at 24 Back Street, Melchbourne. On 13th April 1826 he married Elizabeth WARRINGTON in Melchbourne.
John and Elizabeth had 12 children, all born in Melchbourne: Mary-Ann (bap.1827), Emma (bap 1827, died in infancy), Jane (1829), Edward (1832), Thomas (1834, died at 21 months), James (1835), George (1837), William (1840, died in infancy), Eliza (1841), William (1842), Charlotte (1847), Charles (1849).
